Mehdi Hesamizadeh | Composer, Violist, Sound Artist

Collaboration with Barbara Balba Weber
A collaboration centered on the construction of musical objects and participatory sonic environments, exploring how sound, storytelling, and collective interaction can create spaces for listening, communication, and human encounter.

Resonant Conversation
A four part cycle for Saxophone and String Trio exploring the intersection of microtonal theory and traditional folk narrative.
This work mediates between rigorous post-tonal structures and the raw, melodic language of Iran folk music. Drawing on Iranian folk traditions and contemporary compositional practices, the project moves between Just Intonation, flexible pitch systems, controlled improvisation, and graphic interaction.

Duo Zwischenzone
Zwischenzone is a meeting point in sound, a space between, where different imaginations and places converge. Zwischenzone is a place to look for instability, indefinability and insight.

0.333
A structured improvisation blending microtonal elements from Middle Eastern folklore with contemporary electroacoustic soundscapes. Inspired by French avant garde aesthetics and Persian literature, the performance explores the spiral as a form of musical interaction and movement.

Hesamizadeh|Hoppe|Flick
Improvising, this new trio explores the sound worlds that open up from the meeting of diverse musical fields, such as Mehdi Hesamizadeh’s immersion in folkloristic microtonal music and the early music of the Middle East, Birgitta Flick’s interest in old Swedish chorales and Lisa Hoppe’s and Birgitta Flick’s jazz background.

Weaving Listening

SCENTED ROOMS
A four channel electroacoustic composition created for Scented Rooms, an artistic research exposition by Shauheen Daneshfar. The music was composed as a spatial sound environment for the exhibition, engaging with archive, absence and collective memory.

Condition of War
Condition of War is an audio event project bringing together seven artists, each presenting a personal sonic statement over seven evenings. Curated by Omid Shalmani, the project reflects on war not only as a battlefield, but as a persistent human condition shaped by destruction, loss, memory, and the devastation surrounding both victors and victims alike.

Structured Experience
Established Structured Experience with Arash Azadi in 2015, collaborating until 2017. The project consisted of a series of performances and research activities within experimental electroacoustic and new music practices, presented in Iran and Armenia.
