Experimental Violin No. 2

This violin was commissioned by Niki Yaghmayee for his electroacoustic music practice with the DigitAize system. Since the project had a limited budget, we chose a very inexpensive instrument as the starting point. I remodelled the violin's structure, removing parts of the original body and reshaping it into the form seen in the photos. In response to Niki’s idea of eventually mounting a custom MIDI controller onto the body of the violin, I integrated a removable component fitted with a fine vellum membrane. This element can later be replaced with the MIDI controller, allowing for more intuitive control of electronic parameters during live performance. The result is a hybrid instrument that blends acoustic tradition with contemporary electronic performance tools.
